  Sick Bank Plan Year
Effective immediately, we have re-aligned the benefit year for the Sick Bank plan from September 1 to July 1.  This change will make the benefit easier to administer and less confusing for our employees since it will be on the same plan year as the Sick Days plan.

The change will not have any real-life effect on 10 month employees; they will still have the option to join the Sick Bank at the beginning of school.  So 10 month employees don't need to read any further (unless you just enjoy reading stuff like this).

The big difference for our 12 month employees is that they will now have an open enrollment period to join the Sick Bank during the full month of June rather than when school starts.   As this is the transition year, 12 month employees will still enroll in this years plan during orientation week.  Their open enrollment will shift to June in 2006.  Don't worry about getting confused about this, we will let you know what you need to do at the correct time.

12 month employees will still be able to use last year's Sick Bank days through the old plan year (August 31) as well as use all of the days available in the new plan year.  You will not lose any days because of this change.  We will manage that from the Central Office.

On-line Calendar   The school has computerized the school calendar.  Every activity and event of the school will now be on-line for everyone to view, including staff, students and parents.  This public calendar is on the school web site (www.villagechristian.org) or can be viewed from this web site.

There is also a second calendar which lists every event that is on the public calendar (as mentioned above) but it also has events just for staff.  It will carry events that are not of interest to parents or students, such as information on staff meetings.  You can locate this staff calendar on the same site which that you will use for submitting your calendar requests.

To get an event on the calendar (including reserving a facility, green space or vehicle) you will now use the on-line calendar. This will replace the old Facility Request Form.  This site can be reached from the home page of this web site by clicking on Request an Event on the Calendar which is on the left menu.

You may download or view the instructions for using the on-line calendar by clicking here.

On-the-Job Injuries Be sure to immediately inform your supervisor if you are injured on the job.  If medical attention is required, see the School Nurse.  She will either provide first aid or send you to the the appropriate medical clinic.  She will also provide you with the necessary paper work for the injury to be covered by insurance.  If an injured employee is unable to see the nurse, the supervisor must contact the nurse on the day of the injury.
